Week 74: Hey y'all

This past week was really good!

We had Christmas and it was awesome! Of course we ate a lot of food 🤣 .

The rest of the week was good, we had a training visit and I went with Elder Bengtzen and it was a good day! 

While walking down the street we saw a guy raking his leaves and when we asked if we could help he said we could come back next week to help him paint so we have more service!!

We have been running low on miles so this week has been kind of a slower one haha and I don't have a whole lot to say.

Merry Christmas y'all!!!

This time of year is absolutely amazing because it is all about the Savior and love!

I don't know if y'all have had a chance to see the new The Christ Child video, but it is awesome!!!

Week 72: Hey y'all!

This last week was awesome!! We had our Christmas conference! We got to play a lot of fun games and we heard from Karl Anderson. He does tours at the Kirtland temple and he is a spiritual giant!! He wrote a book called "The Savior in Kirtland".   

More exciting news!! We got district activities back!!!! So we have our first one today and we will be watching the fighting preacher, it is a really good movie!! Y'all should watch it!!!!

Yesterday we made some gingerbread houses with a family in the branch.... A lot of my pieces were broken so I couldn't really make my house so I made a church haha..... Please don't judge me.. 

Anyway the work here has slowed because of winter, but we have really found some quality people!!

Ruud Castillo is still awesome and progressing really well!!

Week 71: Hey y'all

So this last week we did a lot of service again!

We helped out a guy we are teaching who owns a military store, he is remodeling the back room that used to belong to a construction company.  So we helped him take down a model wall, they built it like an actual wall, so it was a lot of fun.

And for our service he let us take some MREs that were really good!!

The rest of our week was mostly finding and not really a lot to report on..

Week 70: Hey y'all

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving is always a great way to start the holiday season!!

On Thursday we were invited to the Branham's home and they had amazing food and it was awesome company! Brother Branhams son is on a mission serving in Mexico and he called while we were there so we got to meet him too.

We had our first lesson with Ruud! And he is awesome!! He is ready to get baptized!!

Week 69: Hey y'all, a message from Elder Uchtdorf!!!

So this last week was awesome!!!

On Saturday Elder Uchtdorf came to our mission and him and his wife talked to all of us!! 

It was an awesome and very spiritual experience!! 

One of the messages that he shared with us that really stuck with me was: 

"God always promises a safe landing, but not always a calm flight." 

So life may get hard, things may seem like they are not very fair, but I know no matter how low you get or how hard things are they will always get easier and God's plan for you will always be good in the end. 

This week is also transfer week and I will be staying here in New Portage!! 

New Portage has been awesome!! The members in the branch have all been amazing!! 

We have a few people that have been progressing and we actually found out something cool this week, one of the families in the branch have an 11 year old son.  We all found out that he some how did not get baptized, and he wants to.  Because he is 11 we need to teach him all the lessons before he can be so we are very excited for that!!

Week 68: Hey y'all

So this last week was good!

We have done a lot of service! 😂😂

We helped out at a couple food pantrys, raked lots of leaves and helped people move. 

We helped a member clean out her basement and she had 2 sofas that need to go out but the first one was extremely difficult to carry out. The second one was heavier, bigger and solid wood so instead of trying to carry it out we tore it apart which was really fun haha.

We originally had interviews scheduled for last week but President was sick so we will have them tomorrow instead. 

We also had to deep clean our apartment this week so that was fun and took up our day.

Happy Veterans day!!!!!!!!! 

So this past week we did a lot of service.

We also had a training visit and I got to go with Elder Renteria!! Missed that kid haha

But it was good, we helped a member rake up her lawn, she had a big lawn. 

Then we helped someone else paint her house this week.

We also helped someone move this week, so ya a lot of service haha. 

That is really all I can remember from this week, I was really bad a journal writing haha. 

Next week I will have more to say!!

Week 66: Hey y'all

This week was good! We had Zone conference and it was so awesome!!

Zone conference is always a awesome learning experience!

We got to ask president some questions and hear a announcement about the new handbook that is coming out for us!! So that is exciting!

The rest of the week has been good, there are a lot of awesome people in this area so we have been taking some time to meet with all the members and other great people.

I realized that I think Ive been forgetting to mention in these emails so here it is,

The Book of Mormon videos are absolutely freaking amazing!!!!!! I have been so excited for these videos for a long time now 😂 so to finally get to see them is awesome!!!

Week 65: Hey y'all!

So this last week we had baptisms!!

Tyisha! Tyonna! And Aja!

They are super awesome and love the gospel!

Elder Norton baptized Tyonna and Aja, the two daughters and I baptized Tyisha!

Their baptism was awesome and the spirit was so strong!

The rest of the week was good, we were mainly finding a lot, we did go and help out a member with his Halloween stuff and helped him make one of the young men in the ward a costume and that was really fun. 

The big hight light of the week was the baptism and it was awesome haha.

I don't really have anything else from this week.

The new area is good, the branch is awesome.

Week 64: Hey y'all!

So I got to New Portage and it is a great area. It is actually a branch so not as many members here as in past areas but that is not bad at all.

I've been able to teach some of the people that the Elders have been teaching and they are awesome! 3 of them, a family, are actually getting baptized this week so that is cool and exciting!

The other fun news is I don't live in an apartment, I actually live in a normal house... The adjustment has been super weird 😂 😂

My new companions name is Elder Norton and the fun thing is I am his greenie breaker! So he is in his 3rd transfer in the Mission, just out of training.

We also had stake conference this last week which was weird! Because the last Stake Conference was my first week in Wooster! So it has been 6 months since I got to Wooster! 

I got to see a few members from the Wooster ward and catch up with them so that was awesome!! 

So that was my short week, I wrote more than I did about my long week😅🙃

I guess it makes up for it.

Week 63: Hey y'all!

So it's transfer week and I am getting transfered! I get to go up to New Portage! I don't really know much about the area so I can get that to you next time!

This past week was really weird, we were just on the bus so much! Between going to the church and just a lot of travel time.

I don't actually remember a lot from this past week, its getting colder so fall is finally getting here.

Week 62: "I'm going on an Adventure!!"

So this past week was awesome!

First, we had interviews with President Stratford and Sister Stratford, those are always a good experience.

Then we got a self referral for a guy named Mike and he is super awesome!! He straight up said he wants to be baptized and be a member of the Church and he is already reading the Book of Mormon. He was able to watch all 4 sessions of General Conference with us and he said he loved it! The sad thing is we found out he is 20 so we are handing him off to the OSU Elders but it is still super awesome!!!

General Conference was absolutely amazing!!

I loved Elder Uchtdorfs comparison of the Premortal life and the Hobbit😂

My favorite talk came from Peter M. Johnson, he had such a powerful talk about Satan's 3 D's, Deception, Distraction and Discouragement, and his 4 ways of helping protect from these. 

1. Love God with all your Heart, Might, Mind and Strength. 2. Pray to the Father everyday through His son Jesus Christ with all the energy of your heart. 3. Read and study the Book of Mormon everyday, this one I know is true because I have truly grown to love th Book of Mormon greatly. 4. Prayerfully partake of the Sacrament.

When this General Conference comes out on Gospel Library this will be the first talk I go back and read because I wrote a lot down about it and took notes but I didnt get everything I wanted down 😂😂

Week 61: Hey y'all

So this past week was a little weird, haha.

We had Zone conference which was awesome!!!

And on Saturday I ended up getting a little sick, but we were able to get back in contact with a guy we met named Robert who is awesome!!

It's starting to cool down a little bit so that apparently means more rain☔!!

So that has been fun haha. 

So I think I said last week this one would be longer but I lied because I was really bad at journal writing this week so I don't remember a whole lot of what happened haha.

Week 60: Hey y'all

This past week was a little weird haha.

OSU had a home game on Saturday which meant not a lot of work gets done on that day. We did have a lesson but we ended up getting rained out, like a lot of rain.  There was flooding so we couldn't walk at all 😂, but then the only place we could get off was downtown and that was a mistake.

It was at night and there were a lot of drunk OSU fans, it was not safe for us to be there haha. 

That's really the big update for the week, Reaves is awesome and we are still working with him, it was kind of a slow week for us.

Week 59: Hey y'all

We put Reaves on date!!!! This past week we were able to talk to Reaves and we made it more clear that the date was more of a goal and not a set in stone thing, he agreed and liked the date of October 12th! Reaves is super awesome and has been a huge blessing for us!

Also this week we helped this lady named Lily again with service, we helped fix her fence that had been vandalized and broken so that was really fun!!

On Saturday we had training visits with our Zoneleaders and I got to go with Elder Klinkowski! And we had a super awesome day!!!  We met this girl that was super awesome, really interested in learning more and had never seen missionaries before or heard of the Book of Mormon! So she excepted a copy and said she would read as much as she could before the Elders go back!

Those are the highlights from the week! I was terrible at journal writing this week 😁😭😂

Week 58: Hey y'all

This past week was a little crazy, transfers were good, I said good bye to Elder Davis and now I'm with Elder Barnes.  He is from American Fork Utah and has been out for about 20 months.

The past couple days have been crazy because we have to take the busses but the bus routes have been really messed up lately and we have had a few busses just not show up or go on the wrong route so that has been a adventure. 

We had a awesome lesson with Reaves! We tried to put him on date for baptism, he agreed to be baptized but he didn't want to agree on a specific date yet, he gave a strong maybe, but he is coming to church and he really loves it and always participates, he is awesome!!

Week 57: Transfer week

Hey y'all! So this week is transfers and I am staying in riverside! Elder Davis is leaving though and he has been great! So that does make me sad.

This past week has been a good one haha, we were able to go down and serve on OSU for a bit and that was awesome!! It was very very tiring because it is a lot more concentrated missionary work because there are people everywhere! I got to go to the Buckeye stadium which was pretty awesome and huge!!

Also we have been teaching this guy named Reaves who is awesome he came to church and he has mentioned that he is considering joining the faith!!

Those are the highlights really because I was bad at writing in my journal this week😂 not that that makes a difference in how long my weekly normally is😂🤷‍♂️

Week 56: Hey y'all

This last week was good! We had interviews with President so those are always good.  On Friday we helped a member dig a ditch and the dirt was not as soft as we thought it would be so I ended up getting to use a pickaxe to dig it out, that took up most of the morning and a little into the afternoon so then we had weekly planning.  The next day we helped a member move out of their apartment so we got to have 2 days of service!

This week is kind of a blur honestly, those are really the highlights I remember 😂

Week 55: Hey y'all

Hey y'all, so this past week was hectic.

First we got the car! Then we didn't have it for a couple days haha.  When we got the car it had a flat tire.  It had a nail and a screw in it so we had to go get it changed.  Then something was up with the shifter because it wouldn't let us turn the car off so we had to take it to the Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet to get it fixed.  Sadly I didn't get to meet Mark 😭, but we had to leave the car overnight to get it fixed.  While the car was there we were on training visits and I was with Elder Lowry and it was a really fun day!!!

The rest of the week we have been finding and we had a super cool miracle happen the other night!

While we were walking a guy drove by behind us and asked if we were the Mormon missionaries😂.  We started saying that it is a nickname some people know us as but the name of the church is- - - then he cut us off and corrected himself by saying Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.  He then asked us where the church building is and that he had been meaning to go for awhile but hasn't been able to.  We gave him the address and got his number and name and when we looked in our area book he was already in there and had been taught and is super solid!!  His history says he wants to be a member!

On Sunday we had stake conference and Elder L. Whitney Clayton of the seventy was presiding and him and his wife gave talks and so did President and Sister Stratford.

It was a really good spiritual day!!

Week 54: Hey Y'all

So this last week was a little slower, we mainly had a lot of travel time getting to and from places, we did help some new members move into the ward and they seem awesome!

Then we had a training visit with our Zoneleaders Elders Klinkowski and Lowry, I got to be with Elder Klinkowski again for the day so that was awesome!! We had a pretty good day finding and biking around, yes I've been doing what I hate and biking more 😂.

That's really the updates from this week, Riverside is a hard area, we will be getting a car for the week so things should start moving faster 😀

Week 53: Hey yall

So this was kind of a slower week, since we don't have a car. We have been getting around in other ways and because of that we have had more travel time getting places.

We were able to meet with lots of members of the ward this week so that was good!

And we also had Zone conference which was awesome!!!!

Then after Zone conference President and Sister Stratford came over and picked up our stuff for us because there was a possibility that we had bed bugs, luckily there was not bedbugs but Elder Davis had a rash going on, that's why we thought it was bedbugs, so we got to spend the rest of the day with Sister Stratford so she could drive us to the hospital and drive us around.

Everything is good now! No bedbugs, no more problems!!

Week 52: Hey y'all

So in a few days I will hit my year mark (on Thursday)!!

It has been an awesome year!!

The Mission has been both the greatest thing and the hardest thing I have ever done.  I have learned so much and I feel I have really grown a lot too. 

So this last week was transfers and I got transferred out of Wooster, I won't lie, I honestly cried Wednesday night when I was leaving, Wooster is a blessed place that I came to love and it will definitely stay with me and will always have a place in my heart. 

Now I am in the Riverside ward which is located in upper Arlington and around OSU campus, 

It seems like a good place so far, the ward has a lot of super nice young families. 

We don't have a car this week so we had to take the bus to Church yesterday so that was a new experience! The building we attend is located right next to the Columbus Ohio Temple so it is cool to see that!!

Week 51: Hey y'all transfer week :)

Hey so it's transfer week and I am getting a transfered.

Wooster has been awesome and I will never forget it. 

I will be going to Riverside, which is the area OSU is in, I won't be serving on the campus but around it, and it is actually the area right next to Worthington!! So I get to be around there again!!

Week 50: Hey y'all

This past week we had interviews and it rained on us hard!! It didn't rain for a long time but there was some flooding on the roads and we had to drive up to Talmadge for the interviews. 
Interviews are always the best, and the feedback we get helps a lot. 

We also had exchanges this week with the training specialist and it was awesome!! I was with Elder Lomax, he was one of my Zoneleaders when I was in Kirtland and he is a awesome missionary.

We were able to have a lesson with this guy that we have been teaching and it went super well!! We taught him the plan of salvation and he understood it and said it made a lot of sense to him.

The rest of the week has been hot and humid.  😂 I keep forgetting it is July so while we are out I don't understand why it is so hot 😂😂 June just kind of came and then it went.

Week 49: Hey y'all (bashing is not the savior's way)

This past week has been good, we had exchanges with our Zoneleaders and it was great! We were able to find a few cool people this week.

Since it was the 4th this week we decided to go to a park where they had a carnival set up and we walked around with a sign just asking people what they love about our country, it was awesome! We were able to meet some really awesome people.  We did run into some born again Christians.. They are not always fun. 😂  Basically as soon as they saw us they started to bash on us, we were just trying to get away but they kept talking at us, they didn't really let us talk at all. So Elder Klinkowski texted the Zoneleaders and told them to call us so they did so we could get out of that situation.

I just really don't like Bashers because there is no love in bashing, all bashing does is bring contention, so try not to do it. 

So little rant is over 😂 the rest of the week was pretty good, we had a guy we met come to church yesterday and he said he really enjoyed it!

Week 48: Hey y'all

We had Zone conference this past week and it was awesome!

It is always awesome to be able to hear from our leaders and to receive the guidance and trainings they give. 

The rest of the week has been hot!! I guess summer is here 😂 which is exciting with the 4th of July coming up this week🦅🇺🇸 🎇✨🍔🌭

On Friday we had to drive down to Columbus, which is a 2 hour drive, because Elder Klinkowski had to get a ingrown toenail removed which I know is not fun 😂, so it took us out of our area for awhile but we got to drive by Worthington which was awesome for me!!!!
